Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 24, 2026
FindTogether is operated by Fit4Purpose Solutions Inc. ("FindTogether," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through the app, why, and how it's handled. It's written to describe this specific tool, not a generic template โ read it alongside our Terms of Use, which covers how the service itself may be used.
1. What we collect
Account information. If you sign in to create a campaign, report a hazard, or manage one as an owner/co-owner, we receive your email address and a unique account ID from whichever sign-in method you use (Google, Apple, or an emailed sign-in link).
A silent anonymous identifier. Every visitor โ signed in or not โ is automatically assigned a private, random identifier by our authentication provider (Firebase) the moment the app loads. No login screen, no personal information involved. This identifier is what lets you edit or delete a search-log entry or hazard update you posted, later, from the same browser, without needing an account. Clearing your browser's site data or switching browsers/devices will disconnect you from that identifier.
Content you submit. This includes campaign details (name, description, photo URL, contact info you choose to add), search-log entries (a location pin, radius, notes, and an optional display name), and hazard reports/updates (label, description, location, notes). Campaign owners are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of information they publish about a missing person, pet, or situation, including any personal details about someone other than themselves.
Location data. Map pins you place (last-seen locations, search areas, hazard locations) are stored as submitted. If you use "Near me" or "Use my location," we request your device's GPS location (with your browser's permission) or, if that's unavailable, an approximate location based on your IP address via a third-party service (ipapi.co). We don't store this location beyond your current session unless you explicitly submit it as part of a pin.
2. Third-party services we rely on
FindTogether is a static app built on top of a few external services, each with their own separate privacy practices:
- Firebase (Google) โ hosting, database (Firestore), file storage, and authentication. Firebase processes and stores the data described above on our behalf.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim โ map tiles and address/city lookups. Search queries you type into a location search box are sent to Nominatim to find matching places.
- ipapi.co โ approximate, IP-based location lookup, used only as a fallback when precise GPS isn't available or permitted.
3. How we use this information
Solely to operate the coordination features described in the Terms of Use: showing campaigns and hazard reports on a map, letting contributors log searched areas, and letting owners manage their campaigns. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or targeting.
4. How long we keep it
Campaign data, search logs, and hazard reports persist until removed by an owner, deleted by the original contributor, or (for hazard reports) automatically hidden after a period of inactivity. We don't currently run a separate backup/archival process beyond what Firebase provides by default.
5. Missing persons and other sensitive subjects
Campaigns on this app may concern real, sensitive, and sometimes urgent situations, including missing children. Information about a missing person, pet, or hazard is submitted by the campaign owner or community contributors โ not necessarily by the person the campaign is about. If you believe information about you or a family member has been posted inappropriately, contact us at the address below and we will review it promptly.
6. Children's privacy
FindTogether isn't directed at children, and creating a campaign or hazard report requires signing in through a third-party provider that has its own minimum age requirements. That said, the subject matter of a campaign may involve a minor (e.g., a missing child) โ that content is submitted by adult community members or guardians coordinating a search, not collected directly from a child using the app.
7. Security
We rely on Firebase's security infrastructure and access-control rules to restrict who can edit or delete data (generally, only a campaign's owner/co-owners, or the original anonymous/logged-in submitter of a specific entry). No online service can guarantee perfect security, and we can't guarantee it either.
8. Your choices
You can decline location permission and use the app without it. You can choose not to enter a display name on any contribution (it defaults to "Anonymous"). To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account or contributions, email us at the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of FindTogether after a change means you accept the updated policy.
10. Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
